Chapter 1, Part 3 - nostalgia

Chapter 1, Part 3 - nostalgia

Forgive the short hiatus from the blog the last few weeks, it's been a crazy time over here! But I'm back, just as we head into grad season! It's been a LONG time since I was a graduate (whether that's graduating high school or university), but I'm feeling so nostalgic about it this year. I suspect that could be due to my obsession with The Summer I Turned Pretty over the last month which has had me watching and reliving those teen / early twenties years.

Remember the days - study dates with your friends, library days turned-procrastination-sessions, messy house parties, boy drama and no responsibilities. Oh to be young and oh so oblivious again!

I also recall as law school graduation approached for me, I had really wanted to buy myself the Cartier love ring, to mark the occasion. It felt like such a special time and massive milestone especially because law school had been a long, rough, arduous ride and I almost gave up on it sooo many times over those 5 years, and so I felt like I really wanted to gift myself something to mark the occasion. Ultimately I decided the Cartier ring was way overpriced and not worth it (although my girlfriends later gifted me one), but jewellery to mark that occasion felt perfect.

This is the thing I love about fine jewellery - whether I’m gifting myself or family or friends, I find it’s the most thoughtful and sentimental gift because it is absolutely a piece that will be with you for life. Almost everything other item of anything ends up being thrown out at some point because it’s true that most things in life are fleeting. But fine jewellery is not.

So on that note, I’ve pieced together my top jewellery picks to mark graduation! Whether you’re gifting yourself or choosing something for a family member or friend - you probably can’t go wrong with any of these.

1. A Gold Ring

Like 23 year old me window shopping for over-priced rings, I think you can’t go wrong with a solid gold ring to mark this special time.

I’m obsessed with our Anniversary Ring - the wrap around design, the white sapphire stones and the perfect size to stack with other rings…or the perfect start to a fine jewellery collection.

And I know sizing for rings can be difficult, especially when it’s a gift. To help with this, we have ring sizers available on our website and all our rings come with 7 day returns so if the size isn’t perfect you can always return it and buy another size.

2, A Statement Necklace

Statement enough that it feels bold and memorable, and classic enough that you’ll wear it every day for years to come. There’s nothing quite like an emerald.

And yes it is sold out right now, and yes this is the third time it’s sold out in months. But it will be restocking very very soon (mid October) and pre-orders are open. We're only restocking a limited number of these so we recommend pre-ordering to avoid missing out.

3. Gold Earrings

Arguably just as important as your ring stack, is your ear stack. And a foundational piece like this makes the perfect gift - a standout on its own (and my favourite everyday piece), and the perfect earring to layer.

Grad marks the start of a whole new chapter in life, and for a lot of people, it happens in their 20s when they’re just figuring out who they are and what they want out of life. Just like fine jewellery which is so personal and an expression of self.
